Veradia Interventional Radiology and Vein Center is the first clinic in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to concentrate solely on treating varicose veins, spider veins, and other medical conditions using interventional radiology.
Interventional radiologists are board-certified physicians who specialize in minimally invasive, targeted treatments. They offer the most in-depth knowledge of the least invasive treatments available coupled with diagnostic and clinical experience across all specialties. They use X-rays, MRI and other imaging to advance a catheter in the body, usually in an artery, to treat at the source of the disease non-surgically. As the inventors of angioplasty and the catheter-delivered stent, which were first used in the legs to treat peripheral arterial disease, interventional radiologists pioneered minimally invasive modern medicine. Today many conditions that once required surgery can be treated non-surgically by interventional radiologists. Interventional radiology treatments offer less risk, less pain and less recovery time compared to open surgery. (From the Society of Interventional Radiology website, sirweb.org)
Endovenous laser ablation (EVLT) involves inserting a laser fiber inside the most common cause of varicose veins, a malfunctioning great saphenous vein. The laser is then fired inside the vein and along its length causing it to shrink closed. With the source of the problem treated, the painful, unsightly varicose veins typically fade away. Research with up to 5 years of follow-up has shown a success rate of 93-98% for this form of treatment.
Veradia is a partner with Medical X-Ray Center of Sioux Falls, established in 1961 to provide high quality diagnostic imaging, interventional radiology and radiation therapy services. The physicians at Veradia are affiliated with Medical X-Ray Center, and specialize in interventional radiology. Our entire staff is excited to introduce Veradia to South Dakota, and we look forward to serving you.
